Ultra Low Standby Power GSM Modem
This design is a PIC24 based GSM Modem board developed for a client in express timescales. We worked very closely with their development team first to identify the detailed requirements and then to produce and test the design ready to integrate into a larger system.
The product was to be battery operated with a long shelf life so one major challenge was to achieve a standby current of less than 20uA. In the end through careful design and power management we achieved 8uA.
The software for the board was entirely written using Microchip XC16 and debugged using one of our ICD3 debuggers, before being handed over to the client.
